Dr. Kambiz Silani| Chief Optometrist

Dr. Silani is therapeutically board certified in the detection and treatment of eye disease. He graduated from Western University College of Optometry (WUCO), with an emphasis in ocular disease, optometric rehabilitation and Neuro-optometry. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University Of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a background in psychology, sociology, and pre-optometry.     

 

His collegiate career was highlighted with various awards and recognitions, including the title Clinician of the Year for outstanding patient care, the WUCO Class Scholarship, honored on the Dean’s List for academic excellence and inducted to the International Honors Society, Beta Sigma Kappa.     

 

At Western University, Dr. Silani was appointed the leadership position of Alumni Representative for three consecutive years and, in 2011, became a Student Fellow of the nationally recognized American Academy of Optometry. While completing his studies, he worked on research with the world-renown vision scientist, Christopher Chase, PhD, to delve deeper into the function of accommodation and related visual structures.  

 

During his externship rotations, Dr. Silani trained under Harvard graduate Dr. Angela Nahl, providing medical eye care and assisting in surgical procedures at La Jolla LASIK Institute. He further developed his skills with stroke patients and traumatic brain injury patients with Dr. Carl Garbus, the President of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association in Valencia as well as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.     

 

Most recently, Dr. Silani worked with the outstanding Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group – a team that specialize in treatment of the retina, vitreous and macula and are deeply involved with cutting-edge technology, such as Implantable Miniature Telescopes to improve sight in Age-related Macular Degeneration patients.    

 

His Beverly Hills practice includes, but is not limited to, ocular pathology including infections and inflammation secondary to systemic diseases, specialty contact lens fittings for advanced corneal diseases, as well as reversing the effects of nearsightedness with Ortho-Keratology. His professional passion is rooted in early detection of blindness related to glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and hypertension.    

 

In addition to his practice, Dr. Silani also serves the community as a volunteer at the MEND Poverty clinic, which was honored with the 2012 Governor’s award as the Non-Profit of the year. Through this organization, he is able to help an array of patients with such diverse pathology as herpes simplex keratitis, advanced cataracts, pituitary adenomas, cranial nerve palsies, retinal detachments and glaucoma.     

 

By way of volunteerism, Dr. Silani is able to give back in an essential way, supporting and providing care to underserved communities that need health care providers to tend to patients that may otherwise go untreated.  

 

Dr. Silani is currently a member of the InfantSEE program, the American Optometry Association, the California Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Ocular Nutrition Society. Also, a member of the prestigious Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Bita Shoku| Associate Optometrist  

 

UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute and Beverly Hills Optometry 

 

Dr. Shoku graduated from University Of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with distinction, Summa Cum Laude, and completed her doctorate degree at Southern California School of Optometry. She returned back to UCLA where she is currently associate physician at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. She is currently involved in several studies at UCLA on Age-Related Macular degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. Dr. Shokouh's achievements include but not limited to being the Chairman of Education and the past President of California Optometric Society. Dr. Shokouh is also fluent in Farsi.
